Sensio, IDC sign 3-D deal - Licensing agreement covers worldwide d-cinema market

3-D technology developer Sensio Technologies signed a licensing agreement with International Datacasting Corp. for the integration of its 3-D cinema decoding technology into digital cinema products, which might include servers, projectors or satellite receivers.

 

The agreement would provide exclusive rights to IDC in the digital cinema market worldwide, with the exception of the United States, where Sensio has an agreement in place with leading 3-D provider Access Integrated Technologies.

 

Per the IDC agreement, Sensio will get a fixed royalty per theater. The agreement also allows IDC to use the Sensio technology in its own products and to sublicense the technology to third-party manufacturers.

 

In the U.S., AccessIT's CineLive technology -- which enables the live broadcast of alternative 2-D and 3-D content such as concerts and sporting events -- uses Sensio's decoding technology, integrated with IDC's broadband satellite technology. AccessIT has deployed CineLive in 50 theaters, and plans to install a total of 150 systems by year's end.
