Ireland's first exclusively digital cinema, Omniplex Wexford, is set to open this Friday 4th July on The Rosslare Road, Drinagh, Wexford. The €9 million eight screen cinema, developed by the Ward and Anderson Group, has a seating capacity of 1577 and will present all films solely in the digital format.

The cinema's digital projection network, provided by 'Digital Cinema Limited', will consist of Barco 2K resolution digital projectors with Doremi digital servers. All eight screens are fitted with Dolby Digital sound processors and Crown amplifiers with up to 17 JBL speakers.

The venue is also equipped to screen 'DIGITAL 3-D'. The cinema kicks off a programme of 3-D features this October with 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' and 'Final Destination 4'.

"We are delighted to announce Omniplex Wexford as one of the first cinemas in Europe (and the first in Ireland) to fully embrace digital projection," said Paul Anderson, Managing Director. "Omniplex Cinemas has always been at the forefront of technology and continues to break new ground to provide better presentation facilities for our patrons."

"The Omniplex Wexford will open this weekend with Will Smith-starrer 'Hancock', animated feature 'Kung Fu Panda', 'Chronicles of Narnia – Prince Caspian' and 'Wanted'.
