Barco Introduces Certified Service Partner Program

Barco has introduced the Certified Service Partner program. Launched at Cinema Expo 2008, the program is the cornerstone of Barco’s commitment to provide its rapidly expanding European digital cinema customer base with the highest quality, local service and support.

Cinemeccanica is the first company to sign up to undergo certification as a Barco CSP in Europe.

As the rate of digital conversion increases, the requirement for a structured network of expert service and support is critical to ensure high levels of uptime for digital cinema equipment. In recognition of the importance of high quality, rapid, local support, the Barco CSP program is designed to establish an extensive European-wide support network for its rapidly growing digital cinema installed base.

This will be established in conjunction with Barco’s digital cinema partners in Europe. Their product knowledge and experience should ensure maximum up time of the Barco digital cinema projectors.

Wim Buyens, vice president, Barco Digital Cinema says, “The network of Barco CSPs will be key to delivering Barco’s strategy of superior customer service. However, because our CSPs will always be locally based, first line rapid response will always be assured. If an issue cannot be resolved locally then the fault will be escalated within the Barco service organization for resolution.”

To become a Barco CSP, companies must go through a rigorous certification process. Thereafter they must continue to meet a minimum set of criteria and standards relating to numbers of certified personnel, minimum service levels and continuous field experience regarding Barco digital cinema installations. Our CSPs will also demonstrate a strong commitment to training to maintain certification. Certification needs to be renewed on an annual basis. This will ensure that Barco CSPs always have the most up-to-date knowledge and level of skills required to keep up with any technological developments in our industry.

The certification process covers two levels. Level One covers the Installation and Basic Maintenance certification, while Level Two covers the advanced Service and Diagnostics certification. For Europe, the training and certification will take place at Barco’s headquarters in Belgium. US training will be done at their dedicated training facility at Ranch Cordova, Sacramento. The Beijing training center will provide certification in China.
