Christie, a leading provider of visual solutions for business, entertainment and industry today announced that the company’s CP2000 series of 2K DLP Cinema® Digital Cinema Projectors has been chosen by Cineplexx GmbH, the largest cinema chain in Austria, for the deployment of digital cinema systems in all of the circuit’s 193 screens.

The agreement between Cineplexx and XDC, represents a total value of 24 million Euros and is co-financed by the Virtual Print Fee (VPF) model, which will see deployment commence in the last quarter of 2008, with 50% of all the circuits screens scheduled for conversion in the first year of the agreement.

Under the terms of the agreement XDC will exclusively install projection systems from Christie CP Series of 2K DLP Cinema® projectors and XDC’s Cinestore® Solo G3 D-Cinema servers. Together they offer a fully integrated and networked solution at each Cineplexx complex with access to the advanced library and theatre management system – XDC’s CineStore® Plaza.

Dale Miller, Christie’s EMEA Vice President said “We are delighted that Christie’s digital cinema projection systems have been chosen for another major d-cinema deployment, giving further credence to the design, performance and quality of our cinema systems.”.

Richard Nye, Christie’s EMEA Senior Market Development Manager – Cinema added, “We have worked with XDC developing digital cinema opportunities together for over five years. This success is the culmination of a lot of hard work from a very dedicated team at XDC and following XDC’s recent announcement confirming the sign-up of 6 major US distributors, including Sony Pictures and Universal – that success is richly deserved”.

Fabrice Testa, XDC’s Vice President Sales & Business Development said:” We are delighted to work with Christie for this first XDC’s VPF deal. We are confident about the quality and the reliability of Christie products, as well as about the level of after-sales service that they provide.”
