PVProHD-DC alternative content processor for digital cinema

Image processing, scaling and warping manufacturer, Calibre UK will show their PVProHD-DC digital cinema alternative content processor with key USA partner, Marketing Specialists, Inc on the Moving Image Technologies Booth #1729 at ShoWest.

“The PVProHD-DC Digital Cinema Alternative Content Processor adds to the digital cinema projector the ability to accept all professional audio-visual content and computer formats with optimal screen mapping. Video timings for both Sony and Texas Instruments based projectors are supported, making the product an ideal mate for any installation” says Paul Carey, President at Marketing Specialists, Inc.

The PVProHD-DC alternative content processor uses real-time SIMD DSP-based software image processing techniques to effectively re-master the alternative content image in real-time.

Featuring a powerful 1024-tap scaling filter and superb de-interlacing and aspect ratio conversion, PVProHD-DC performs per-pixel motion adaptive noise reduction to significantly reduce image noise and grain in HD and SD images without causing loss of detail or motion blur.

PVProHD-DC can also enhance image clarity through its detail enhancement algorithms and provides a real-time unsharp mask which is able to make near-HD quality from SD sources.

PVProHD-DC uses true 10-bit post-production grade image processing algorithms as used in the production of movies, ensuring best in class picture performance always!

Tim Brooksbank, Chairman at Calibre adds: “Alternative Content Processing for Digital Cinema is a uniquely demanding task which requires the best possible scaling and image processing. The large screen size and dark viewing environment can sometimes means that noise and picture softness which would not be noticed on a normal projector or TV screen suddenly becomes apparent to the viewer. To truly generate a picture of suitable quality for Digital Cinema viewing requires a video scaler up to the task, for which the PVProHD-DC is the right tool for the job!”
