Barco's cinema projectors shine bright in 3D for Paramount's Beowulf

Flawless performance of Barco’s projectors on studio lot sets the benchmark for large screen digital 3D

Barco, a global leader in digital cinema is proud to announce that its new DP-3000 digital cinema projector was selected for a North American screening of Paramount’s new 3D feature, “Beowulf.” The screening was held on the Paramount studio lot exclusively for the director, cast and crew and studio VIP’s.

“Beowulf” was developed from a script written by duo Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary, and is Zemeckis' second effort that uses a photo-realistic version of the "performance capture" technique after 2004's "The Polar Express." “Beowulf” opened simultaneously in conventional theaters and 3D on 16 November 2007.

Mark Christiansen, EVP, Operations, Paramount Pictures stated, “The Barco projectors delivered far beyond my expectations. The picture-quality was brilliant.”

Joe Demeo, Director of Sales for Digital Cinema, North America commented on the importance of the event. “This was a great opportunity to demonstrate the power of the DP-3000’s especially the simultaneous use of two projectors to show the movie in 3D for this large screen. The percentage of screenings increase every year, and Barco is proud to enable film makers to show their work without the slightest compromise on quality.”
