The first film festival dedicated to 3-D technology will unspool in November in Singapore.

3DX: 3D Film & Entertainment Technology Festival will kick off Nov. 19 with an international selection of films including "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D" from New Line and Walden Media and "Fly Me to the Moon" from Belgium's nWave Pictures.

In addition to screenings, the five-day event aims to throw a spotlight on the booming 3-D sector through product showcases, forums and galas, with the technology's major players in attendance.

3DX is sponsored by the host country's Media Development Authority, a government agency charged with regulating the entertainment industry in Singapore, which is emerging as a media hotbed in Asia.

"3DX will provide a world stage and convergence point for filmmakers and technology companies to showcase their works for trade and consumer audiences," MDA CEO Christopher Chia said.

Media sponsors include the MPA, NBC Universal TV Asia and Star TV India.

Former Promax/BDA CEO Jim Chabin is executive producer of 3DX.
